I fell today
It was my own fault for not paying enough attention. A jabberjay startled me when I was climbing, absorbed in my own thoughts, and I slipped and dropped out of the tree.
I love the feeling of falling. It’s instinctual to be frightened of it, but I love it. The brief moment when you’re completely unattached to anything in the world, free falling and your stomach in your throat…
I caught myself before I hit the ground too hard, and I wasn’t dangerously high up in the first place, but now my hands are all scratched up from the bark of the branches I grabbed on to. I had to leave work early and have my cuts cleaned. Not with anything too fancy, just a little bit of antiseptic. Medicine is hard to come by, I wouldn’t want it wasted on something as minor as sore palms. I’ve had worse.
The older folk working with me in surveying today gave me disappointed looks when I got sent home. I feel like they thought I did it on purporse - but I love working, I love being in the trees. They don’t know me. I guess I’m pretty quiet, now that I think about it.
But I don’t like that my hands have to be bandaged for the rest of the day. It’s annoying, but it hurts if I don’t. I’ll be fine tomorrow.

It’s rare that I get a smile out of him anymore. He is, of course, all the girls’ favorite right now. But he doesn’t show much interest to anyone, he’s always absorbed in his own thoughts or narrowly avoiding getting into trouble.
It’s always the quiet ones, isn’t it?

we’ve been using ‘PO IN CHARACTER’ or ‘PANEM OCTOBER IN CHARACTER’ and then our district numbers with IN CHARACTER at the end but none of the newer blogs are catching onto it xD
and rowan doesnt want us on the Panem October or PO tags

i know it’s dangerous, not that i have much to post about…
but i’m so curious about what all the other districts have to say about the capitol and panem. i’ve heard whispers of this sort of talk before, but i’ve always ignored it before.
Dahlia brought some more flowers home today. They’re wild in the woods, she’s allowed to pick them so I didn’t have to lecture her this time. Plus, look at that face. She could warm even the coldest Peacekeeper’s heart.

Where I work, everyone has a block of space to do their job and they put whatever you need in them and the sizes vary based on what you do. None of these spaces have doors or anything, its just like a square room with the wall that would make a hallway removed. I think so that they can walk the length of the hallway and see what we’re all doing easily.
Obviously I’m not a regular factory worker or anything, I’m used more for my mind. I do a few different things but no need to really get in-depth about it, but I really couldn’t handle that open wall thing. Im in a corner room at the end of the hall and they would always always stop and stand there for a bit before heading back. It made me nervous and I was always checking to see if someone was watching. I hardly got any work done while there, most of it was done when I was home.
So one day I decided to spend my time (since I wasn’t getting work done anyway) pretending to upgrade my systems. I did this twice a week for three months, went out and rummaged around in the throw aways, hooked up wires, linked all the systems together and slowly but surely built my own wall from discarded units. They think I need this, they don’t know any better, but I’m technically not doing anything wrong. I still don’t have a door, they can still check. But it’s much easier to tell when theyre there and I don’t always have to worry they’re watching.
I change the colours around when I’m bored. I even have a program that makes them blink or spell out sentences. I’m kind of fond of it.
Look at all those colors! They’re man-made lights? I’ve only ever seen those colors in the sky during the sun rising and setting. Amazing…
